Mark DeLuzio Bio
Directly mentored by the originators of the Toyota Production System (TPS), Mark C. DeLuzio has directed the implementation of Lean principles and strategies globally for more than 25 years. In 2001, Mr. DeLuzio founded Lean Horizons Consulting and today leads a global management team overseeing the corporation’s geographic, industry and client services.
Prior to starting Lean Horizons Consulting, Mr. DeLuzio was Vice President and Corporate Officer of Danaher Corporation (NYSE: DHR), a pioneer in the Lean movement. Mr. DeLuzio led Danaher’s corporate-wide implementation of Lean and designed what is known today as the Danaher Business System (DBS). DBS aligns Lean efforts within a company’s business strategy at large.
After a successful career in finance, Mr. DeLuzio began his Lean career in 1988 at Danaher’s Jake Brake® division as Director of Operations for the Asian Business. After studying TPS under Taiichi Ohno’s influential Autonomous Study Group, he was instrumental in developing Jake’s first zero-defect line for Toyota’s Hino Motors. He has spent considerable time in Japan implementing TPS at various world-class companies and has had a successful career in finance.
In 2007, Mr. DeLuzio was inducted into the Shingo Academy for his contribution to the Lean movement. He has been a guest speaker at many universities, including MIT’s Sloan School of Business, Northwest University’s Kellogg School of Business, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and many others.
Mr. DeLuzio sits on the Board of Directors for Hillenbrand Inc. (NYSE: HI) and the Advisory Board for Central Connecticut State University’s School of Business and School of Engineering/Technology.
Mr. DeLuzio holds two undergraduate degrees in business, an MBA in Operations Management and a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and is Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM).
